Choosing between a full truckload (FTL) and a partial load (LTL) affects both your cost and your delivery time. Here is a simple way to decide.
Choose FTL when
- Your goods fill more than half of a 12–13.6 m trailer, or weigh more than about 10 tonnes
- The delivery is urgent and must go direct
- The cargo is fragile or high-value and should not be handled again
Choose LTL when
- You are shipping a few pallets or cartons
- Your delivery date is flexible by a day
- You want to pay only for the space you use
